With frésko non-toxic deodorant coming out soon, I've been more into armpit health than ever.
There's a few different ways to detox your underarms!
First and foremost, I highly recommend using a clay mask on your armpits. My favorite is a mixture of bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar and water. Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a wooden utensil if possible. Your armpits may feel irritated, at least mine did but I got used to it after a few tries (I do this once a month). I don't recommend leaving it on any longer than 10 minutes but if there's a poor reaction to it, of course wash off right away.
- 1 tablespoon bentonite clay
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1-2 tablespoons water
We use them on our faces but did you know toners can work wonders on your armpits too!? They're great tools for eliminating bacteria in a natural way and neutralizing odor before applying deodorant. I recommend Thayer's brand and my favorite is the one with infused lavender.
At some point in the afternoon, use a damp towel and add a tbsp of coconut oil. Wipe down your armpits and then reapply your natural deodorant. Before reapplying your deodorant, it would be a good time to cleanse with a toner.
Leafy greens are excellent for reducing body odor. Certain foods can actually change the way your body odor smells. Try cutting back on caffeine, eliminate the dairy, meats and unhealthy oils. Incorporate more vegetables each day and slowly transition to more plant based foods. Just a heads up, garlic and onions can exacerbate body odor!
